LaunchPad does not sell domains and never touches your money. Cloudflare gives you a free web address to start with; if you want yourshop.com you buy it yourself from a registrar, at cost, around $11 a year. And Etsy’s 20¢ is not once — listings expire after four months and renew automatically, so a 150-item shop pays about $90 a year before selling anything. What each sale actually costs
The percentage matters more than the monthly fee once you are actually selling.

Payment processing is unavoidable wherever you sell. A platform cut on top of it is not. LaunchPad takes nothing from your sales — the money goes from your customer to your Stripe account to your bank, and we are not in that path at any point.
If you sell digital files, read this one
Selling $1,000 a month of digital downloads costs about $1,580 a year on Gumroad and $600 a year on Payhip. On LaunchPad it costs $50, once, plus Stripe’s processing — and you get expiring download links, per-buyer licence files and download limits built in. You make the $50 back by about your 500th dollar of sales, and after that it stops costing you anything.
What LaunchPad is not

It is not a marketplace.
Etsy, Zazzle and Redbubble put your work in front of their shoppers and charge you for the privilege. LaunchPad gives you a store, and finding customers is your job — so it ships the tools for that job: a product feed for Google Shopping, Pinterest, TikTok and Meta, a sitemap, structured data, an email list and discount codes. We do not bring you a crowd. We give you everything we can to go and get one, and the customer is yours afterwards.
It is not sold to you in pieces.
The advertised price on most platforms buys a shop that cannot yet do the things a shop needs. Reviews, email marketing, discount codes and SEO tools are usually separate paid add-ons. Every item in that list is in LaunchPad at no extra cost, because there is no extra cost to charge. What we do not have, we say plainly: no recurring-subscription products, and no bulk price editing yet.
It does not speak for you.
Store builders like to fill your pages with confident writing you never wrote — an About page in your voice about a craft you may not practise, a returns promise you never agreed to, a shipping guarantee nobody asked you about. LaunchPad seeds your pages with prompts and placeholders, never finished claims. If your store says you offer something, it is because you typed it.

What happens to your store if we disappear?
A fair question to ask a small company before handing over $50. Here is the honest answer: nothing happens. Your store stays up.
Your site is ordinary HTML, CSS and JavaScript sitting in your own Cloudflare account. Payments run through your own Stripe account, straight to your bank. The app runs on your computer and your products live in a file on your machine. There is no LaunchPad server your shop calls, no LaunchPad account it signs in to, and no key of ours that could be switched off. We could vanish tomorrow and your customers would not notice.
It is worth asking the same question of anyone charging you monthly. If a platform hosts your shop, then stopping payment stops the shop — and whatever you built was rented, however much it was described as yours. That is the part “own your store” usually leaves out.
To be straight about the trade: if we disappeared you would stop getting updates, new features and support, and that is a real thing to lose. You would not lose the store, the customers, the money, or your ability to change any of it. You can move the whole site to any host that serves files, hand it to a developer, or keep publishing from the copy on your computer for as long as you like.
